“This page is 30 kilobytes long.”

Says Wikipedia when I edit a large page.

I guess I have never thought of the dimensions of information and computer storage.

The page metaphor contributes to this description of length.

Does information have volume? What are the dimensions?

It does have a literal correspondence when you get down to the transistor level (RAM) or magnet level (Hard drive).

But technology is always getting smaller, so any attempt to say 500 GB of data is equiv to 9 inches squared or something would be out of date with in days.

One that never seems to go away is comparing data to sheets of paper or books in a library.
