Someone asked in comments what I meant about a techcrunch for open source
Luis Villa’s Blog » techcrunch for the open source desktop
Someone huh?
I asked very purposely because I have been looking for good open source desktop “news” for many years.
Newsforge is not on my list, though there regularly are great stories there like a local report on BarCampEarth (hat tip: Chris Messina).
I really enjoy Michael’s writing, but it is not what I really want from a open source desktop news site. TechCrunch is the bleeding web. The voice is right, but I want less hype, more balanced reviews and focus on productivity in work and play.
Luis spells it out beautifully! I don’t think we are alone considering one of my top read articles is Linux + offline Feed Reader = Liferea.

Liferea link is broken, by the way. And sorry about referring to you as ‘someone’
I’ll be more specific next time…
Luis, is all good! Being dramatic about it is part of the fun.
Link fixed. I have been meaning for forever to get a ~ out of my URLs… but it really means a hosting change… I have given myself till November
I’m looking for the same…
btw, if you need to host, I can put you on my server… I’ve never installed wordpress/php/… but wouldn’t mind learning to help out a friend.
Jesse, that is a very generous offer. I have new hosting lined up already.
