Is there a Canadian alternative to Zip.ca other than “the depressing aisles of Blockbuster”?

Socializing about the movies we have seen is a significant part of our culture.

It is not unusual for friends to discuss the disappointing experience of renting movies at the warehouse stores like Blockbuster. Julia and I inverably bring up the excellent experience we had with Netflix, and the lame experience with Zip.ca.

Julia and I rent some movies from Blockbuster, but we are lucky to have a few other options:

• Walking distance mom and pop video store
• Victoria Public Libary carries a decent selection of movie titles and online reservation. Still it is limited, and the queues are often months long.

I want a queue based solution with good supply.

Other mail-based services? In Canada? DVDHype.com, or Cinemail.ca any good? Any chance they don’t use Canada Post.

Download TV and movies? Anyone tried Amazon Unbox Video download? ITunes store meet your needs? Wal Mart delivers (only to Microsoft)?
