Greta Van Susteren’s, the host of Fox News On the Record, GretaWire is a fantastic combination of blogging and social media.
In “So we asked some bloggers” I wrote I really enjoyed seeing in 2007 an ever increasing number of people self-identify as bloggers and giving their own meaning to the term. I’m looking forward to even more diverse and expressive uses of blog, blogging, and blogger in 2008.
Greta uses video, audio, and prose in a very real and active conversations with her audience — conversations often feeling like it is in real time, live. The content alternates between detailed insights and pithy commentary. The result is over half a million comments since the blog started last August at part of our WordPress.com VIP program.
Greta regularly has posts with titles of “open thread” or “comment here” and regularly writes “blog away”. I remember reading a post that read something like “we are all adults, we don’t need comment pre-moderation”. Wow, that is a powerful sentiment.
The round the clock posting and commenting does make me a little concerned that Greta doesn’t get enough sleep 
But I’m impressed that Greta is doing interesting and important work in making journalism personal. She is doing an amazing job of providing an opportunity for her audience to participate and collaborate, making the news a more personal experience.

I would like to know why the media does not ask or mention what my mom use to tell me when I was growing up in America: “TELL ME WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE AND I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE!” YOU HANG WITH THE CROWs YOU ARE A CROW… MAYBE THIS IS TWO SIMPLE FOR THE MEDIA OR ANYONE IN THE W.S.A. TO UNDERSTAND IN TODAYS EVIRONMENT. THE MEDIA HAS PICKED OBAMA SOOOOO WE ARE SUPPOSE TO SUPPORT HIM AND MAKE HIM THEIR PRESIDENTZZZZZZ! THIS IS CRAZY.
Omba’s wife’s comment(statement seems to be hateful when I heard it… their 2 girls will be the same)about a month ago only proves what my mom use to say to me…They are privileged citizens that is what is wrong with both of them period.

I am an african male who watches your show from time to time.I consider you to be a humanbeing sandwiched between two white supremist.
Last week I considered you to be truly offended by the words of Rev. Wright. To tell you the truth if I were a white american I would probably have been offended also. However I know that what you were feeling had nothing to do with you. I had no problem with anything I heard Rev. Wright say except that the government produced aids to kill black people. I just don’t think I’ve heard enough evidence about it yet thought I do believe covert action of this sort is highly possible.
I remember being a young man in the 50′s liveing in a small segerated town in Kentucky.We had to sit in a seperate section of the movie theater and obey other Jim Crow laws.The pastor of my church during a pasionate sermon came out with from almost no where America ‘O’America.With tears in his eyes we all felt what he felt in our hearts.
You know Greta I’ve come a long way from that small Kentucky town.I have a good education .I’m enjoying a great career.I’ve been able to travel the world. I know that a great deal of my success comes from the fact that I am an living in America . With all the progress we’ve made in some ways we’ve not improved at all. The attitudes of many have not changed so at times it still feels like 1950.
Some times I see things that are unbelieveable. For example sometimes I use to see Mark Furman on your show as an advisor.I use to ask my wife why would Greta have a racist like Furman on her show,she seems so nice and
fair.He’s a guy that was taped saying things like,”Yeah we work with niggers and gangs.” He goes on to say “You can take one of these niggers, drag ‘em into the alley and beat the shit out of them and kick them.” And here you have him on the show as some sort of expert. And at the same time I’ve got to assume you don’t realize this guy is a jerk. I juess what I’m say that we can’t believe or understand everything we see and here, can we? Again I’d like to say Rev. Wright is not who you’re reacting to. I believe your perception is off and understandably so. However I think you would be much better in formed by Rev. Wright than Mark Fuhrman or those two hatemongers you work in between.
