Julia is my valentine!
I find it hard to get excited about Valentine’s day, but I did well this year.
Last night I made Julia a simple stuffed vegetarian pasta with fresh parmesan, store bought pesto and vegetables. I don’t often cook, so she appreciated it.
That is the kind of cooking I do and like. Simple. The vegetables included parsnips which I cooked with the asparagus, carrots, and celery. I really enjoy their flavor. Julia’s mom Donna recently (re-)introduced them parsnips to me.
For Dessert we had chocolate from Bernard Callebaut that Julia gave me (and she gave me a lovely rose). Mostly dark chocolate — my favorite! I had not previously had Callebaut chocolate, it is fantastic! I still have a hollow big chocolate heart.
The night before I took her to Blighty’s Bistro. One of Victoria’s best restaurants — in my opinion. It is a cozy restaurant on Oak Bay run by sincere people passionate about west coast dining. I had venison on the best mashed potato’s I have ever had. Julia had a tasty pork dish.
Since the weekend, I have giving her daily gifts including little articles of clothing, Nora Jones - Not Too Late, and Gwen Stefani - Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
.
I had a wonderful Valentine!
