Mozilla Corporate Labs?

Asa announced the launch of the Mozlla Corporate Labs blog a few days ago. It is powered by Wordpress!

Mozilla Corporate Labs, previously Prototypes, was discussed at the open Mozilla All Hands meeting at the end of June. During that meeting Flock was mentioned twice. Basil Hasham and team have done an excellent job in the wiki presenting the goals and path ahead, and answering questions.

Still, Mozilla Corporate Labs leaves me confused as I wonder how it relates to Mozdev, Mozilla Developer Center, and Mozilla Organization’s own mandates? Although Michell does not mention Firefox once in her post on Mozilla “Prototypes”, Mozilla Corporate Labs will likely almost exclusively focus on the product Firefox.

Maybe, something can come out of it that will lead Chris Messina to shut up about WebKit. Please! ;-)

I am most excited by a Mozilla project using an open platform for blogging. Most of Mozilla’s blogs are in proprietary MovableType hosted at http://weblogs.mozillazine.org.

Dude, I would *love* to shut up about webkit already.

Once Mozilla matches the ease of using XCode to building WebKit for the first time, makes widgets possibly, supports better anti-aliasing and integration with core graphics and the like…

But seriously, you know I’d love to see Mozilla succeed, but heck, competition’s a good thing. At least in terms of the technologies I pimp, WebKit is open source!

    Chris, “dude”, I hear yeah.

I hope Mozilla is successful in balancing the needs of the product Firefox, and the needs of creating a platform. Currently I fear they are too focused on the product.
