More Sublimation, in the Flock Sense of the Term

This last week has seen two of Flock’s ever so talented developers quit, Jesse Andews and Raj Paul.

Termie and Anthony were Flock’s original “90 hrs / wk and loving it!”
developers. At the beginning of 2006, likely partially because of exhaustion after doing it straight for at least the five months I had been with Flock and partially because these guys roles were changing. I guess they were no longer “and loving it”.

Jesse and Raj stepped up as the new Flock developer dynamic duo. If one was working all night the other mostly likley was to. Both are incredible “get it done” developers and among the best I have worked with.

When everyone leaves...Jesse is a development leader. He was the “on the ground leader” after Anthony. Jesse combines his passion as an open source profession with his deep academic knowledge, his “tried it” experience, and his ability to collaborate with designs through to testers.

I hear that Jesse is likely going to do some work for himself and some contract work.

Raj @ Flock HQRaj quietly got all the development work assigned to him done whether JavaScript, CSS, or C++, which is very unusual in the software development profession. He still has energy to then go have a good time. Raj is right back at it with another Silicon Valley startup.

I am sure they will be missed, but one of the most impressive things about Flock still is the depth of development talent, though a lot of the original team and open source professionals have now walked away.
