I don’t like the advice of “being controversial”, because I think too many people are controversial for the sake of it. Be sincere, write about your experiences and actions, and how it relates to other people — we are all most interested in ourselves, so write about them not you. Don’t beat up the good people.
And don’t worry about SEO (search engine optimization)!

I really agree with the controversy statement in that you’re really aiming for something that some people will love, and some people will hate. If you’re aiming for something everyone will like, then no one will feel strongly about it.
engtech, that is a good way to put it. My worry is that many people think that it means to be negative or inflexible or absolute.
