Flock Extension?

Flock.com

Right now, 100% of our energy is being directed to get the browser and the source code available to the public. And we are looking at days not weeks ;-)

Once we get it out, and get the glaring bugs under control, the developers are excited to clean up some of the erosion in the design that is necessary to get development done. Included in this is working towards making it easier for other web services to be added, for example another online bookmarks service, or making a new topbars. Architecting our functionality into extensions is also in this list.

I’d rather have those features in Firefox extensions instead of being “forced” to change browsers to use them. Unless it is absolutely, 100% cross-compatible with Firefox themes/extensions/misc. features, and is updated within 24 hours of a new Firefox release, then there is a 0% chance of me switching to flock.

Once we get our work out there as the Flock Browser at least a couple of our software developers are passionate about making sure that the architecture supports delivering the Flock functionality easily as one or more extensions. If anyone does not like the pace these Flock developers will pursue this at we welcome the help!

I know a lot of users that do not want to install extensions or themes, they want an intuitive and powerful preconfigured tool that does what they want . We are developing based on what our friends and communities members suggest to us. We are not making a browser for everyone. We are targetting a much smaller group than the everyone that Firefox does an amazing providing products for. This, we hope, will allow us to move quickly in fun directions.

I also can’t wait for our forums and other community infrastructure to be in place. We will demonstrate that we are community focused both to our user community and the mozilla development community.

  5. Looks like this is old stuff here. What about themes for flock? It seems like it souldn’t be that difficult to create or to convert firefox themes. Some news on this would be very helpful.
