Ferry to the New Vancouver Apple Store?

The email’s subject read “Grand Opening: The Apple Store, Pacific Centre.” and there is a prominent Get Directions button, but I’m not sure they would have sent it to me if they had considered where I live (if it was a person manually sending the invites). It’s a Google estimated 2 hours 47 mins “drive” includes the 2hr $55 (car included) ferry ride. I’m impressed Google Maps is able to give directions which include “Take the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay Fry ferry to Tsawwassen”.

It opens this Saturday, May 24th, at 10:00am. Did every Apple subscriber in Canada receive this email? Maybe only everyone in BC? Only people with less than a $100 ferry ride? It’s strange to me that Vancouver isn’t mentioned in the email.

It is fantastic that Vancouver is getting an Apple store! It is the 5th Apple Store in Canada. All the others in Canada are at least 4hrs by plane in central Canada1: 3 of them in Toronto and the other in Laval, Quebec.

Miss604 has all the info including this may be the place to meet the person of your dreams. Duane Storey hopes to get some newly announced products there in June after the Apple Developer Conference. And Phillip Jeffrey is thinking of camping out for the opening — I’m hoping he really means get out of the city and go camping this weekend, the weather is awesome!

I look forward to drooling in there sometime soon on a trip to Techcouver! Vancouver Apple Store Coming Soon2

Update: John Biehler’s “We can haz Apple Store in Vancouver” has some brilliant photos from the launch, and it’s a good read.

  1. I did not get the email – so you can rule out all Canadian subscribers.

And you’re right – West coasters DO mistakenly call Ontario the East. I wouldn’t say the same thing for East coasters calling Ontario the West. :)

  2. yeah. like you’re NOT going to take the ferry over to visit the store… ;-)
