Continuous Developer and QA Builds Unusable

A season’s greeting Flockstars! Flock’s continuous developer and QA (tinderbox) builds  have been very broken since Thursday morning. Termie has checked in significant code to take the favorites manager much better, but it has temporarily broken most everything. Termie had hoped to get this fixed yesterday, but was not successful.

I am using builds from Wednesday, Dec 21 on MacOS and MSWin, and they work well.

If you are a Flock developer, as Charles Fenwick notes, I suggest not applying change set 1596 and after until this is fixed.

Blogging being not usable is documented in bug 1895.

Termie says he is very close to having the main things working again, but with celebrations, my guess is sometime on Monday.

There is still a lot of work to do to get this next release done. My guess is that it will be a week into January before Flock is starting to work well in each of the major areas.

The Flock “early adopter” release will be mid-January early February, with features including:

  • Import Favorites
  • Flickr uploader
  • Better star and tagging
  • Better favorites navigation
  • Faster feed viewing
  • More blogging support
  • Developer APIs for favorites and photo browsing and photo upload

And likely a few other aspects still in the works.

Update 12/24 23:19 PST : corrected twice “Better favorites navigation”.

  1. Lloyd, take the day off and spend it with your wonderful fiance!

No matter how much QA you do today, I highly doubt that favorites navigation with be twice as good as it is in the last release!

    =D

  2. Chris, a desert is made of individual grains of sand.

Aside, making favorites navigation twice as good from the last release could easily be done in a night, but not doing QA stuff ;-)

Thank you for the best wishes, and my thoughts are also with you!

  3. Chris – I hear ya man……. I too need to spend more time with the wonderful fiance!

But as I am sure Lloyd can back me up on this one, what we are all doing is soooooo frigging cool that stopping is not actually are option!

    Seasons greetings to ya’ll
