I have updated my list of Computer Clubs in Victoria which I started as a discussion on VLUG’s mailing list.
Looking through these clubs’ events it seems like their is little collaboration between these clubs, and I worry that each is elitest in its own way, each maintains its own walled garden.
The price tags on the Big Blue and Cousins courses seem prohibitive. Although likely much less than what the instructors can charge for those courses, it is far above what I would call “community pricing”.
I hope to go to at least one meeting of each of the clubs on that page.
There was only one Victoria club that I did not include Victoria IT Pro User Group. The ads on the website are really tacky. I will probably still check out one of their meetings though I have no idea what an “IT Pro User” is.
I also did not include Victoria Computer Users Group (VCUG) which is a private club.
