Accountability

“We”, “people”, “others” are all terms that can be used to skirt accountability.

Take responsibility by representing yourself. Be a person first, not part of an organization or company first.

I am going to try to make sure people know they are interacting with me.

I am going to try to find out who I am interacting with more.

Humanify my businessing and consuming.

  1. I was thinking about this the other day. People trust other people, not companies. This is why all the the companies that people trust have real, identifiable persons behind them: Steve Jobs, the president of JetBlue, all of the blogging web 2.0 companies. For some reason, traditional corporations get this only when it applies directly to money: salespeople. Instead of ambiguous persona, companies assign sales people to prospects, charm them, ect. But when it comes to bearing bad news, giving support, distributing terms, and all of the bad stuff, ambiguous “we” and “us” are used.
