Today, people all around the world are celebrating that five years ago today the first version of WordPress was released!

Of course, most people’s celebration is limited to Happy Birthday WordPress posts. It’s awesome reading them; most posts (subtlety) demonstrate the authors own participation in WordPress. We’re all the developers of WordPress!

BattleStar Blogger, Darth Mojo

I found a gem of a blog the other day, Darth Mojo. It is written by BattleStar Galactica Visual Effects Designer, Adam “Mojo” Lebowitz. The blog’s tag line is “the dark chocolate side of the force”. As well as in depth BSG insider info, he geeks out on Star Trek, Star Wars, and all things sci fi.

Watching Whole TV Series

Lately, we’ve been watching lots of movies and whole television series. The TV shows stand out more in mind as we spend much more time with the characters. Some of our favorites have been:

  • Friends (?) – Julia has watched all of the seasons, and I’ve enjoyed many, many of the episodes.
  • Grey’s Anatomy (?) – we have now catch right up to the just air 4th season finally.
  • Boston Legal (?)- we’ve watched the 1st two seasons, and are just watching the 3rd.

Not Going To Save For My Child’s Education

Heritage Education Funds Inc (Heritage RESP) called unsolicited a couple of weeks ago. Immediately after the caller introduced himself, I said we’re not interested. He responded, “You’re not going to save for your child’s education?”

How crazy is that? Although it deserved no response, I said, “Yes, I am, but there are plenty of other options.”

I had already intended to go through my bank, TD Bank, but if he hadn’t been so rude, I would have researched their offering independently (online).

Ferry to the New Vancouver Apple Store?

The email’s subject read “Grand Opening: The Apple Store, Pacific Centre.” and there is a prominent Get Directions button, but I’m not sure they would have sent it to me if they had considered where I live (if it was a person manually sending the invites). It’s a Google estimated 2 hours 47 mins “drive” includes the 2hr $55 (car included) ferry ride. Continue reading

Happy Birthday Julia! You are My Inspiration!

With the birth of our son William, this is a different birthday, as are all of our days.

As life changes, love changes. I thought I loved Julia before with all my heart, but my love for her feels even fuller now. Julia has become my truest inspiration.

I’ve been profoundly moved by how amazing Julia was during labor and how she has been the first weeks of William’s life. During labor she demonstrated incredible strength and courage. With William she is perfectly caring: exploring the new adventures each day, seeking to understand and help him with each challenge, soothing him, cuddling him, and playing with with.

This experience has also given me new appreciation of my mom, Julia’s mom, and all moms. This Mother’s Day William ;-) gave Julia, Lois and Donna some beauty treatment. It will be Julia’s first time at a spa.

Julia’s first gift today for her birthday from William and I was letting her sleep in to noon — it is a pretty good gift when you have a little one ;-) More gifts to come…

Happy Birthday Julia! You are my inspiration!

My Son

You may be wondering about the radio silence. Well, it has been for the very best of reasons. My son was born one month ago on Monday, April 7 after a long weekend of work for him and his mom Julia.

Life is extraordinary! Every single time I hold him, I marvel that every little part of him is just like us, a bit of us, but in miniature and developing quickly. He is my son.

My life has new meaning!
