New flockstars!

Another 1007 Flockstars

At 12:54 AM PST, the first 1007 people from the Flock “announcements” mailing list received an email from Bart Decrem inviting them to join the original Flockstars in trying the The Flock Developer Preview … Preview ;-)

Since the private release (v0.4.6 (0.5pre)) a few days ago to 282 friends of Flock, we have been madly hacked away at the worse bugs. The release (v0.4.7 (0.5pre))

And additional perceptive and detailed feedback is coming in. It is coming in fast enough to really keep me on my toes!

Right now, 100% of our energy is being directed to get the browser and the source code available to the public. And we are looking at days not weeks ;-)

Once we get it out, and get the glaring bugs under control, the developers are excited to clean up some of the erosion in the design that is necessary to get development done. Included in this is working towards making it easier for other web services to be added, for example another online bookmarks service, or making a new topbars. Architecting our functionality into extensions is also in this list.

Focused on the common good

I do not think I could sleep right now. I have not slept in 24 hrs. My sleep pattern is quite warped. And I am not feeling well, my nose is very congested.

So today the Flock web browser did a “soft launch”, or something, at a web 2.0 CONFERENCE. We did not make a new version of the Flock browser available to Flockstars, and, of course, this means, we have not reached our most significant immediate goal of making the Flock browser available for free to everyone, and the source code available to open source developers.
