Life’s A Twitch — Welcome Home!

I just watched the documentary on TVO about the owner of above linked website. TV is evil, but I am so glad I turned it on for this. If you have not seen it, do! I am so happy to be a member of the same race, humanity, as this Dr. Dunc fellow.

Looking forward to be more compassionate to people, not specifically

with Tourette’s, but this program gave me a little more perspective on

what challenges some people have to face and overcome.

Last nite’s newTLUG was great. The topic ‘webmin’ was interesting, but my interesting

was being around these people with very interesting perspectives and lots

of personality. Made me reflect on my belief in Linux.

Hanging out @ home with the boys, resting up for the big weekend of Dragon Boat. 7:30am ferry tomorrow. Taking care of old email and other things.

CNN.com – Surprise asteroid nearly hits home – June 21, 2002 trips me out. It was spotted a few days after impact almost occurred. The article tries to calm people by saying that the path of this particular asteriod has now been calculated several decades into the future. My concern is all the other asteriods out there.

A recall an assertion from a couple of years ago that Humanity scans ~ 3% of the sky. Intuitively, detection is not very likely. Even if detected, we have no defenses prepared. The worlds political climate could not support the 80s Star Wars pipe dream. Ironically, considering now are technology is far superiour. The above article references the following sites: NEO (Near Earth Objects) and NASA’s LINEAR (Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research). To be checked out.

Ironically and hilariously, I received an email from SETI@home, letting me know that I have not contributed since Dec 18, 2000. I stopped when I found out they closed the source. I do have to get on a project to use my computer cycles. I unsubscribed from SETI@home with easy — project is not so bad ;-)

A seemily excellent netizen, Nathanial Hendler, emailed me regarding my search for a good URL mngmnt program, suggesting Active PHP Bookmarks (APB) appears to be a jewel of a Web Based URL/Bookmark Managment tool. The project site also wisely lists some of the competition. Seems that it would be worthwhile to examine at least APB, and Bookmarks4U.

Nathanial’s signiture included a link to (I imagine his site) retards.org — pretty cool. This fellow appears to be a real web junk, and uber netizen.
